What Rho Phi Is
Rho Phi is a student society conducting democratic governance, collective leadership, and mutual benefit bounded by its Constitution.
Rho Phi Everyday
Rho Phi convenes democratic assemblies called Quorums where Members elect actions and direction for the Society.
Rho Phi's Conception
Founded in response to purely competitive academic distinction, Rho Phi advances cooperation over rivalry.
What Rho Phi Does
Rho Phi hosts democratic assemblies, called Quorums, in which members elect the actions and direction of the organization as a whole; these actions and direction often take the form of seminars, workshops, and socials geared toward the social, cultural, academic, and professional enrichment of members but are virtually limitless. Rho Phi is best thought of not as an organization with a particular goal, but instead a democratic framework for collective action. Every Member has one vote on every action; every Member is equally empowered to determine the direction of the Society. For more information on current Rho Phi actions, see our Programs page.
Why Rho Phi Exists
Rho Phi is a student society founded in response to the limitations of purely competitive academic distinction. We were created by several Georgia Governors Honors Program nominees who believe that the potential of capable individuals is most effectively realized through cooperation rather than rivalry. The Society provides a democratic and institutional framework through which members collectively determine the direction of the collective while gaining direct experience in leadership, deliberation, and civic governance. Membership connects individuals across Georgia, fostering enduring networks of intellectually engaged peers, while also offering structured opportunities for administrative and organizational leadership. As a nonprofit entity, Rho Phi is positioned to extend material and institutional advantages to its members which expand as the Society continues to develop, all in service of mutual benefit and collective advancement.
The Cost of Rho Phi
Rho Phi does collect Member dues. The amount of dues is proposed in a funding plan created by the Treasurer and elected by Members at the Chapter level. Dues are collected annually. Rho Phi has a Constitutional duty to allocate a supermajority of funds to Member benefit in the current Term, not including operational overhead. Rho Phi is a nonprofit; all financial activity at Rho Phi is tracked and publicly accessible. Membership at Rho Phi does not proclude Members from joining any traditional fraternity, sorority, or other Hellenic organization (see our Notice). Members at Rho Phi can expect to spend one hour every week engaged in activities related to Rho Phi with Quorums typically held on a monthly basis.

Politics in Rho Phi
Rho Phi is NOT a political organization in that Rho Phi does not permit affiliation, support, or reception of support from any political party or candidate. While Rho Phi does have staunch positions on the promotion and propagation of Freedom, Equality, and Democracy, any particular position taken by a Member of Rho Phi beyond these core principles represents only the position of that Member and is not an official position of Rho Phi.
