COMPENDIUM OF MERITS
General
That for the purposes of proving sufficient academic rigor for membership of Rho Phi, any of the following merits may be tested for:
Category I, Tabulation
- 3.7+ on a 4.0 scale or equivalent weighted cumulative High School GPA;
- 3.2+ on a 4.0 scale or equivalent cumulative Dual Enrollment or College GPA;
- Placement in the top 10% of the class year;
Category II, Affiliation
Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) membership such as in:
- Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA);
- Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA);
- Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA);
- Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA);
- Technology Student Association (TSA);
Or equivalent or with regard to one’s own Personally Founded Organization (PFO);
Category III, Competition
Participation in sufficiently competitive activities wherein the evaluation of the self against the peer is necessary such as in:
- Mock Trial Team;
- Speech and Debate Team;
- Model United Nations Team (MUN);
- SkillsUSA Team;
- Student Government Association (SGA);
- National Merit Commended Student Award;
- Nation Honor Society;
- Journalism;
Category IV, Assessment
- Pre-Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) Score of 1400+
- American College Test (ACT) Score of 28+;
- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Score of 1350+;
- 2 Advanced Placement (AP) Exam Scores of 4+;
- IB Exam Score of 5+;
- College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) score meeting the American Council on Education (ACE) recommended credit threshold;
- Successful completion of a Capstone, Extended Essay, or Senior Thesis earning a grade of B or higher under an accredited academic institution;
Category V, Recognition
- Referral from an acting Proletarian;
- Governors Honors Program (GHP) Nomination;
- Nomination or recommendation for a state, national, or international academic award;
- Endorsement for participation in a selective academic program, internship, or research fellowship;
- Certification of authorship, publication, or public presentation of research, creative, or technical work in an accredited or recognized forum;
- Nomination by a secondary or post-secondary educator to Rho Phi;
Category VI, Kindredness
- Written work in the style and caliber of Rho Phi’s canon which meaningfully contributes to the thought and or processes of Rho Phi;
- Proposed Amendment to the Constitution of Rho Phi which meaningfully expands, refines, or improves the integrity of Rho Phi;
Declarations
Whereby any such merit may be substantiated in:
- An official statement from an educator or registrar;
- An unofficial statement derived from an authenticated source including (1) the legal name of the applicant, (2) the content which they possess, and (3) the name or other signifier of the institution which provisioned the content.
