What Rho Phi Does

Rho Phi hosts democratic assemblies, called Quorums, in which Members elect the direction of the organization as a whole. This has included seminars, workshops, funding, and socials, but is only limited by the initiative and coalition building acumen of our Members. Rho Phi is best thought of not as an organization with a particular goal, but instead a democratic framework for collective action. Every Member has one vote on every action; every Member is equally empowered to determine the direction of the Society. To see current organization-wide initiatives, see our Programs page.

Where Rho Phi Meets

Rho Phi hosts Quorums virtually as well as in-person at libraries and other public meeting spaces. Rho Phi generally does not meet on closed school campuses, although individual Chapters may select these venues if all members retain access. Rho Phi does not conduct official meetings in private residences or areas not generally open to the public.

How Rho Phi Started

Rho Phi is a student society founded in response to the limitations of purely competitive academic distinction. Its founders were GHP nominees, Mock Trial attorneys, and Community Volunteers who believed that potential is most effectively realized through cooperation. Rho Phi provides a democratic and institutional framework through which members gain direct experience in leadership, deliberation, and civic governance. The Society connects individuals across Georgia, fostering enduring networks of intellectually engaged peers. As a nonprofit entity, Rho Phi is uniquely positioned to support members through grants, fundraising, and volunteer opportunities.

The Cost of Rho Phi

Rho Phi does collect Member dues. The amount of dues is proposed in a funding plan created by the Treasurer and elected by Members at the Chapter level. Dues are collected annually. Rho Phi has a Constitutional duty to allocate a supermajority of funds to Member benefit in the current Term, not including operational overhead. Rho Phi is a nonprofit; all financial activity at Rho Phi is tracked and publicly accessible.

Membership at Rho Phi does not disqualify Members from joining any traditional fraternity, sorority, or other honor society (see our Notice). Members of Rho Phi can expect to spend one hour every week on Rho Phi, with Quorums held on a monthly basis.

Current Treasurer estimates place dues at $125 for the 2026-2027 Society Term, with merit relief options available.

Politics in Rho Phi

Rho Phi is not a political organization in that it does not permit affiliation, support, or reception of support from any political party or candidate.

Where Rho Phi Is

The Rho Phi Society serves 12+ High Schools and Universities, and is expanding to new campuses at Member demand. The Rho Phi Society currently serves students across the state of Georgia, centered in the North Atlanta area.
